This is my very first entry into the blog and am excited to share my passion and interests with you, which just so happens to be about the latest in technology, from tinkering with electronics, to gaming and understanding how it all works and fits together.

I am one of the biggest Sony PlayStation fans, from the time the first console released back in the early 90’s through to today. When I saw the PlayStation 1, I just had to have one and when I first played on it, there was no way I wasn’t getting one.

I just received a special pre-order, my most anticipated since online shopping began..

It happens to be the PlayStation4 Pro 500 million limited edition and then thought, what better way to initiate my very first blog by sharing the unboxing experience with you.

Firstly, I think Sony deserves a huge congratulations on selling more than 500 million gaming console units consolidated from the PlayStation 1, PS2, PS3, PS4, PlayStation portable and PS Vita.

Here are some quick facts:

What’s in the box:

1 x 2TB PS4 Pro console,

1 x PS4 console vertical stand,

1 x power cable,

1 x micro USB cable,

1 x HDMI cable,

1 x set of earphones,

1 x PlayStation camera stand,

1 x PlayStation camera version 2,

1 x DualShock 4 controller.

One can’t help but just stare at the box, knowing what’s in it.. Okay, let’s get into it.

Once you take the box out of the shipping box, it already looks special. It has this translucent blue matt look where you can see items in the box but keeps the suspense going.

The box is somewhat more of a wrap around cover than a traditional box, which is really cool. After opening the box, you’re not quite at the PS4 just yet, but rather still housed in a felt material type blue cover, possibly to prevent scratches when storing your PS4 away one day. On the left-hand side of the box resides the PS4 console and to the right is a sealed box which contains the items mentioned earlier and also a visible super sleek translucent blue DualShock 4 controller.

Once you eventually get the PS4 console out of the cover, the translucent blue theme continues. Still wrapped in its clear packaging wrap, becomes even more satisfying when pulling it off. The build quality is really impressive, almost somewhat better than the standard PS4 pro, unless I’m blinded by the unboxing experience. There are subtle copper accents which works really well against the translucent blue. At this point everyone would probably turn to the front to check which number they have on the unique copper number plate indicating a serial number out of 50,000. Mine was just shy of 40,000. This will no doubt create hype around resale values in future.

Some of these would be first launch dates of the PlayStation 1, PS2, PS3, PS4 etc per region and also numbers 1, 10, 100, 500, 1’000, 10’000, 50’000. These should all be worth a bit more than the rest in the future.

Some of the other details in this package include the earphones and console stand which also come in the translucent blue theme. The PlayStation camera and camera stand however do not come through in the translucent blue, but is still blue, just a solid color.

Once switched on, it feels as if a space ship is powering up. There is lighting than run through the top front of the console which reflects in certain areas through the translucent covering. Apart from the look and feel, the rest is pretty much the same as the standard PS4 Pro. Game-play is as awesome as ever, the DualShock 4 control is as comfortable and brilliant as before. The console still requires a well-ventilated area to function in as it does tend to get pretty hot. The 2TB storage capacity is awesome, I think a lot of gamer's with a substantial game collection hoped for this upgrade at some point.

All in all, a really special piece of tech. Well done Sony! Looking forward to the PS5..
